easter
happy easter. what a day. so busy. i love holidays. i get so excited the night before. i stayed up until 2 am getting everything ready. we woke up early this morning to get dressed for church. mason was so grouchy. he is not a morning person. he is just like his father. miles was getting so annoyed with him that he didn't want to give him his easter basket. when he finally stopped crying and saw his basket he was so excited. he loves his new transformer toy. in fact, the easter bunny did not need to put anything else in the basket. that was the only thing he looked at. church was a bit of a disaster. mason lasted about 10 minutes in the nursery before he was screaming. it is our own fault really. we never leave him. i wonder how he will handle school when he is older. dahlia was not much better. i was hoping she would sleep during the sermon, but no. she cried so much i had to walk out 4 times. the last time we just left. i gave up. i could not follow anything that was being said. we had brunch with my parents and siblings after church. brunch was just ok. nothing fancy. miles and i went with my sister christina and mom to visit jen, ray and bodhi for dinner. we brought over veggie lasagna and strawberry tiramisu. it was so good. we had a champagne toast to the newest member of the family. yay. what a fun day.

4 months
dahlia is 4 months old today. she is 12 lbs 9 ounces and 24.5 inches long. that puts her in the 25th percentile for weight and 50th percentile for length.
she is getting so big. she is already rolling over, laughing, trying to crawl. well not really trying to crawl yet, but she will be! she is growing up too fast.
tomorrow is easter. we colored eggs with her cousin zena last night. i forgot to take pictures. they were so cute. we missed jen and ray this year. they usually color eggs with us. i am so excited about tomorrow. we are going to visit jen, ray and bodhi for dinner. i need to going. there is so much to do today.

in the park
we had such a fun day. my mom and i picked up zena after the visit with bodhi and went to the park. it was so cute to watch zena and mason play on the swings. i completely forgot to wear green today. saint patrick's day used to be such a fun day when i was working. we would have a party and drink green beer. oh well, i don't really like beer. i loved hanging out with my mom. we don't seem to get to talk much when i usually visit. it was nice to have a long drive to chat.
visit with bodhi
today i went with my mom to visit jen, ray and bodhi. they are still at the hospital. my mom and i wanted to see the baby again so i drove an hour to pick her up and then we drove another hour to the hospital. it was a lot of driving. whew. luckily my kids are great in the car. i thought we would have to leave my kids in the waiting room and take turns visiting. instead, we just sneaked in. nobody seemed to mind. little bodhi is having trouble breastfeeding. the baby just won't latch on correctly. there was a lactation consultant there to help when we arrived. jen and ray seem so happy being parents. we didn't stay too long. i finaly got someone to take a picture of me with my nephew.

bodhi is here
yay. i am so excited. my nephew was born on sunday, march 16th at 9:28 am. his name is bodhi gordon. he was 5 lbs. 15 oz. and 18 inches long. so so cute.
it was so crazy. he is 3 weeks early. just like my son mason. jen and ray were staying the night at our house saturday night. jen woke me up at 12:30 to tell me her water broke. i called miles and her husband ray. they were in the office playing video games. miles and i got our kids ready while jen took a shower. she was freaking out. understandably. we all drove to their house so jen could pack her bag. it was so funny because just like us they were not ready at all. they did not have the car seat installed, or her bags packed, or even all the stuff for the crib purchased. it totally reminded me of when mason was born.
i went with jen and ray to the hospital and miles stayed at their house with our kids. it was about 3:30 am. jen was great. they checked her in and hooked her up to an iv. this was a bit of a mess because they missed her vein twice and had to get it the third time. jen was feeling faint and shaking really bad. it was about 6:30 when she seemed settled in. they checked her cervix. she was dilated 1-2 at that point. her doctor had ordered pitocin for her. her contractions were 12 minutes apart, and it seemed like it was going to be a while. at this point i left the hospital to go feed my baby. jen and ray only live about 15 minutes from the hospital. i told them to call me when things got going. i called my mom to give her the update. they were going to go to the hospital as soon as ray told them things were happening. ray called me at 8:30 am to tell me she was dilated to 9 centimeters and they had called the doctor. man that was so fast. i called my mom again and then rushed back to the hospital. i got there just in time. she only pushed for an hour. little bodhi was born at 9:28 am. my mom was so bummed she missed the birth. they showed up about 15 minutes later. jen was great. she didn't have any pain killers or an epidural. she did it completely natural. i am so proud of her. she was amazing. she was so controlled. i was a crazy woman in birth compared to her.
it was so amazing to see the birth. what a different experience to see it from that perspective. it doesn't seem possible at first that the baby will fit. then you just stretch and there they are. so little. taking in their first breath. what a miracle. i feel so blessed to have shared the moment with jen and ray. they are going to be great parents. congratulations.

visit from granny
what a busy week we have had. we visited my mom and dad on tuesday, disneyland on wednesday, and then miles' mom visited on friday. whew. i loved being busy. it makes me happy.
we don't get to see miles' mom very often. she lives about 2 hours away. she came down yesterday and stayed most of the day. mason loved all the attention. they played jenga. mostly that was mason knocking down the blocks. he doesn't like to stack them as much as he likes to knock them over.
dahlia was very cute. granny said she is quiet. quiet? i guess compared to mason she is the quiet one. we are going to aunt jen and uncle ray's house today. i guess i should get everyone ready.
here are some pictures from breakfast.

outing with auntie
today was so fun. jen and i took mason to disneyland. we lucked out. it was not very crowded at all. we got on so many rides. it was a long day though. mason got crabby and we had to leave at about 5 pm. he is really at a cute age. he loved going on the rides. i really wanted to take dahlia also. we left her at home with daddy. i am going to get up my courage and take both of them by myself. mason and i used to go all the time just the two of us. i loved our little outings. i need to get out of the house more often. it is so fun.
jen and i went to the baby store after disneyland and she bought a car seat and stroller for her baby. it is so cute. i love the one she picked out. it is the chicco cortina travel system. it is green and grey. it looks great. i love to shop for baby stuff. she is due in one month. i can't wait to meet my nephew.

puree
this weekend was so fun. i drove down to meet my sisters for a manicure/pedicure. afterwards we picked up one of my brothers and went to a friend's 30th birthday party. it was at a restaurant where they had rented out a room. it was so nice to be out without the kids. i think my sisters and i were the only sober ones at the party. we all had a long drive home, and didn't want to drink before driving. i got home at one am. man is has been a long time since i have been out that late. i had so much energy when i got home.
on sunday my sister christina came over to make vegetable and fruit purees with me. i was so excited to make the purees. we got this new cookbook that is full of recipes that use the purees to sneak vegetables into your kid's dinners. i don't really have the problem of my kids not eating vegetables yet. mason is only 2 and he loves eating fruit and vegetables. however, my sister's daughter is 6 and will not eat any fruits or vegetables. this plan is a great idea for her. i just thought it would be fun and who couldn't use some more vegetables in their diet? it took us much longer to make the purees than we thought it would. we made spinach, cauliflower, pineapple, and chicken. we also were going to make sweet potatoes and butternut squash but we found them already pureed in a can. we were lazy so we just bought the cans. tomorrow i am meeting her again to hang out. we are going to make one of the recipes and try out our new purees. how fun.
