our christmas card

miles had a great idea for a christmas card. we set up a really funny shot of the kids putting the star on the christmas tree. the picture is photoshopped together.

i think miles did such a great job. the card is really cute and love that it is so silly too. of course we mailed them out today. our usual last minute print job and mad dash to the post office.

an invitation to the castle

well here it is again. party time. this year we are again going to have a combo party for the boys. yay. we decided on a castle/knight theme. i thought this was a good choice. mason is really into castles lately and connor likes whatever mason likes. i already have some good decorating ideas.

miles made the invitations again. we went back and forth on the typography. most fonts were not very legible. i think they turned out pretty cool.

christmas card

we finally got our christmas cards out today. the 22nd of course. luckily most of the people on our list live super close so they will get them before christmas. the others are most likely used to getting the cards late from us.

we were terrible this year and basically ripped off a design i saw online. so bad i know, but i did not have any time to design something myself. next year i swear i will just order cards from somewhere. it is just too much work to design, print, and cut them. i even think we would save money having someone else do them. printer ink is so expensive. am i complaining? bah humbug. i think i am just a little bit too tired and starting to get a cold this year.

at least the card is cute.

monster invite

we are having a monster party for mason and connor's birthday this year. we are so behind on sending out the invitaions. the party is in two weeks! we are so bad. of course most of the people coming already know when we are having it.

miles made the ivitations for us. i found all these cute monster illustrations on clipart.com. it is the first place i always look for illustrations. i wanted the monsters to be fun and not scary. i think miles did a great job. now i just have to start working on all the other party stuff.

christmas elves

yay. the christmas cards are done. true to our tradition of procrastination we sent them out on the 22nd. i had to get up crazy early to print, cut, and label them. i don't think i am going to do it this way next year. i think i might use a service like shutterfly or something. it is just too much work.

the theme for the cards this year was going to be elves working in a toy shop. inspired by my favorite christmas movie elf. i bought these cute matching elf pajamas for the kids and we set up a photo shoot at home to look like they are working in a toy shop. this did not work out at all. none of the photos looked right and i never found all the props i wanted to use like a jack in the box. luckily in between me setting up the next toy making shot miles had the kids sit in front of the fire and just took some candid shots of them together. long after the kids were asleep and miles and i went through the photos it became clear that my idea wasn't going to work. i was so happy to see that we had a really great picture of the three of them that we could use for the cover instead. i think this is the only picture we have ever taken where all three kids are smiling. i love it. i also like that you can see they are wearing matching pajamas. miles did the cute little illustrations for the frame and that was it.

the whole process took so much longer this year. i thought i would have them in the mail on tuesday but here it is already thursday before they went out. oh well. at least we did it!

dahlia's invitation

we decided to have a hello kitty theme for dahlia's fourth birthday party. she really couldn't decide on one theme. first it was going to be a princess party, then strawberry shortcake, and finally she chose hello kitty.

i like this theme. there are so many cute hello kitty things out there. it will be easy to decorate for this party. miles made these invitations. he always gets to do the invitations because he would rather play on the computer than watch the kids while i do it. i think they turned out super cute.

party time

it's that time again. party time. three birthdays in two months. this year we are giving ourselves a break and having a combo party for mason and connor. mason chose the theme. lego starwars. miles was nice enough to create the invitations and we emailed them last night. yikes. now i have to get to work and plan a party. let the chaos begin.

shower invitation

jen is having a baby girl so the sisters and my mom are throwing a little baby shower for her. christina is going to have it at her place and i think that is a great idea. less work for me. the invitations went out today. i think they are pretty cute.

we finally got our christmas cards in the mail. oh my. what is wrong with us? why do we wait for the last possible moment to send out the cards? so so bad. every year i say to miles "let's get these done early this year" and every year we wait for the last moment. so funny. i was looking back and we have sent out our cards on the 22nd for the last three years. oh well. at least they are done. i think they are adorable.

miles made this adorable invitation for dahlia's birthday party. the invites were emailed today. it was too late to print them. bring on party number three!

space party invitation

the birthday party invitations for connor's first birthday are done and in the mail. whew! miles and i were up late printing and cutting them last night. i think they turned out so nice. i am going with a retro space theme. it should be a fun one.

ho ho ho

we made our christmas cards yesterday. hurray. we are so crazy late this year. i just finished stamping them all and miles is dropping them off to the post office. at least some people will get them before christmas. i think we hit a new record for procrastination this year. they are super cute though. we were able to take the photos, design the card, and print them all in one day. go team.

announcement

we finally got connor's birth announcement out today. it took us forever as usual. our original plan was to use photo corners and put the picture on card stock that we were printing. this plan was quickly changed to printing the whole thing as a picture when the card stock kept jamming in our printer. with all the holiday stuff we need to do there wasn't enough time to keep messing with it. i like it this way though. it is so simple and clean looking. nice. and done!

we finally finished our christmas cards and put them in the mail today. man. they just took forever to finish. we started them a week ago. we are more behind this year than last year. oh well at least they are done. i hope some people get them before christmas. i think they turned out really cute.

shower invitations

i had this brilliant idea to hand paint all the baby shower invitations for my sister jen's shower. my other sister christina thought it would be so fun to do potato prints. so i loaded up the 2 kids and drove an hour to my 3rd sister susan's house. christina, susan and i got together to paint all the invitations. it was fun at first. i remember why i don't do art projects any more now that i have kids. it is impossible. mason and his cousin z were running up and down the stairs making us crazy. dahlia was crying needing to be fed every 5 minutes. i really wasn't having any fun. i think susan couldn't wait for us to leave. she doesn't have any kids yet. i think we have scared her off from them. the invitations do look adorable though. now i just need to mail them out.

christmas card

we finally mailed out the christmas cards today. yay. they are so cute. i can't believe we actually got them in the mail on time. we didn't have time to write a personalized message on each one. oh well. next year we will get them done earlier. we went to a photo place in the mall last week and it was a nightmare. mason screamed the whole time. dahlia started crying also. it was a mess. these pictures were taken at home by the christmas tree. how nice. we had our own photo shoot. they turned out so cute. i love the picture of mason. we even saved money!

we are all sick. we have colds. i wrapped tons of gifts today. i love to wrap presents. tomorrow dahlia will be 4 weeks old. wow. i am excited about the holidays now. i am in a good mood. it really feels like christmas.
